Course Description
This course will instruct gynecologic oncologists and fellows
in the techniques required for resection of ovarian and other gynecologic
cancers involving the bowel and upper abdominal organs.
Course Features Radical Cytoreductive Surgery including:
Resection of liver tumors
Dissection of porta hepatis and celiac trunk
Splenectomy and distal
pancreatectomy
Diaphragm resection and stripping
Approaches to multiple bowel resections
Extensive bowel anastomosis practice
Stoma formation: how to make a perfect stoma
Special Features:
Intensive two day course
High faculty to participant ratio
6 cadavers: max 24 attendees: 9 faculty
Interactive classroom & cadaver instruction including video

fee is $2,000 per person for all registrants and includes dinner and all

Cancellation Policy
Requests for cancellation must be submitted to chse@louisville.edu
on or before 4/16/08 to receive a full refund. Requests received between
4/17/08 and 4/30/08 will receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be given
for requests received on 5/1/08 or later.

Learning Objectives/Outcomes
Objective: Describe surgical anatomy of upper abdominal and gastro-intestinal
organs
Outcome: In order for you to perform surgery on the upper abdominal
and gastro-intestinal organs of your patients.
Objective: Skilled in surgical procedures and equipment necessary
for performance of radical abdominal and gastro-intestinal procedures
Outcome: So that you are skilled in surgical procedures and can identify
the equipment necessary to perform radical abdominal and gastro-intestinal
procedures on your patients.
Objective: Identify methods to avoid and treat complications of radical
surgery.
Outcome: In order for you to avoid and be able to treat complications
of radical surgery for your patients.
