FIFTH ANNUAL FIREWORKS IN ANATOMY OF REGIONAL BLOCKADE

This course will provide intense didactic instruction on all the blocks of the upper and lower extremity using nerve stimulator and ultrasound. Workshops with live models will provide hands on instruction in small groups and provide opportunity to examine surface landmarks and  individual instruction ultrasound applications for regional anesthesia. The target audience is anesthesiologists.

Sunday will provide a unique one-of-a-kind opportunity to dissect all the sites for
regional anesthesia on a fresh tissue specimen. This is an exceptional learning experience even for the practitioner experienced in regional anesthesia. This is limited to the first 16 enrollments and has a waiting list every year. Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity.


Learning Objectives:
1. Demonstrate solid base of knowledge of the anatomy pertinent to the performance of regional anesthesia.

2. Identify the relationship of the nerves and surrounding tissue including muscles, veins, and bony structures.

3. Perform upper and lower extremity nerve blocks.

4. Become familiar with the application of ultrasound as it relates to regional blockade.

OUTCOME: Physicians will have the knowledge and skills to provide better patient care and promote better patient outcomes.

MEETING SCHEDULE - PLEASE NOTE:
This program is normally held on the same weekend as Thunder Over Louisville, the world’s largest fireworks display which is held in conjunction with the Kentucky Derby Festival. Due to a scheduling conflict with the ASRA National Meeting, this year’s program is not being held during Thunder Over Louisville.


Refund Policy:
Requests for cancellation must be submitted to chse@louisville.edu on or before May 1, 2007. Requests received on or before May 1, 2007 will receive a full refund less a $50.00 processing fee. No refunds will be issued for cancellation requests received after May 1, 2007.


Hotel Information:
A block of rooms has been reserved at the Hampton Inn, 101 E. Jefferson St., for $109 plus tax per night. To reserve your room, call 502-585-2200 by 4/20/07. Please mention that you will be attending the U of L Fireworks In Anatomy of Regional Blockade program. The hotel provides a free shuttle to the airport and is within walking distance of the program site. A shuttle will also run from the hotel to the program site.
